The flowers are blooming, the sun is peeking from the clouds, and the Windex and rags are out again. It’s time for spring cleaning! But how about you change with the season and bring out more sustainable products. This spring go back to basics with these simple and safe cleaning products.
- Baking Soda is a must for your sustainable cleaning needs. Baking soda neutralizes acid-based odors in water and adsorbs odors from the air. When applying a small amount on a damp sponge, baking soda can be used as a gentle non-abrasive cleanser for kitchen counter tops, sinks, bathtubs, ovens, and fiberglass. You can get one pound of baking soda at most stores for less than a dollar!
- White Vinegar & Lemon Juice are highly acidic and will cut through those grimy, hard to reach places. They also kill mold, germs, and bacteria. Acids dissolve gummy buildup, eat away tarnish, and remove dirt from wood surfaces. They can be found at your local grocery store or market for around $3 for both!
- Castile Soap is made from 100% plant oils so it is completely natural and uses no animal products or chemicals. Castile soap can be used in a variety of ways including laundry soap, floor cleaner, and even hand soap. This natural product is a sustainable must for every household. You can find this product just about anywhere but you can buy a 33oz bottle for $7 and have it delivered right to your door.
- Washing Soda is a great product to have if you have kids, pets, or anyone who is more on the messy side. This product is great for removing tough stains, oils, and grease. It doesn’t release any harmful fumes and is safer than a commercial solvent formula. Don’t forget to wear gloves when using it because it is acidic. The most recommended brand is by Arm and Hammer and can be found in most stores.
