Looking for a spectacular new location to hike and enjoy the cool weather? Head over to the Coachella Valley and experience the Whitewater Preserve.
Located along the Whitewater River, which carries water from the San Bernardino Mountains to the low desert, the Whitewater Preserve offers several great trails for hikers. The Canyon View Loop trail is approximately 3.75 miles long and offers phenomenal panoramic views of the river down below. The trail is now open again after a brief closure due to storm damage.
Canyon View Loop trail is very dog-friendly, so bring your furry companions along for a scenic outdoors escape! The hike is rather steep and includes 650 ft of elevation and has no shade, so it’s a good idea to go on a cooler day and bring plenty of water. The trail is classified in the ‘moderate difficulty’ category and has very positive reviews on Alltrails.com.
Admission to the Whitewater River Preserve is free and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can learn more about the preserve here.
