Have you heard of the ambitious 110-mile Santa Ana River Trail project? Although the area is only 60% complete, once completed it will become the largest multi-use trail in Southern California, spanning over 100 miles between San Bernardino and Orange County. The trail will start at the San Bernardino County National Forest and stretch to the Pacific Ocean at Huntington Beach.
The Santa Ana River Trail project will offer outdoor recreation as a dual-track trail consisting of paved Class I and Class II bikeways for bicyclists and pedestrians, and decomposed granite surfaces for equestrians, mountain bicyclists, and hikers.
Currently, only 68 miles of the Santa Ana River Trail is complete. For more information regarding the trail visit, https://www.rivcoparks.org/santa-ana-river-trail.
Will you be completing the 17-city hike from San Bernardino to Huntington Beach once it is completed? If you do, make sure to share your adventures with us via social media @rivcowatershed on Facebook and @RivCoWatershed via Twitter!
